Introductory Course in Social Pedagogy

Social Pedagogy

This introductory course consists of selected modules from RSUC’s bachelor’s programme in Social Pedagogy. The programme serves people working in the fields of special education in Waldorf/Steiner schools and social therapy in anthroposophical communities. The content will be relevant whether you work in schools with children and young people or with adults in shared housing and other institutions.

Camphill Vidaråsen

Vidaråsen Village is a living- and working-community for both people with and without learning disabilities. Vidaråsen was founded in 1966 and is one of six Camphill villages in Norway. Vidaråsen is an innovative social enterprise, where sustainability inspires a rounded work and life sharing situation for everyone.

Vidaråsen offers this education to co-workers who are willing to commit to two years of internship. The education is combined with living and working at Vidaråsen. The lectures will be held at Vidaråsen on a weekly basis.

Fall 2024

• Module 2A - Actions and attitudes. Professional ethics.

Spring 2025

• Module 1B - Anthroposophy. Perspectives on knowledge, development and humanity.
• Module 2B - Social therapeutic work. Housing and living communities as cultural arenas.

Fall 2025‍

• Module 2C - Developmental phases in adulthood; roles and tasks.

Spring 2026

• Module 4A - Disabilities and society. Developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
• Module 4B - Youth and mental health. Challenges and opportunities with an emphasis on youth.

The course runs through four semesters, where each autumn semester contains a concluding module of 10 ECTS and each spring semester contains two concluding modules of 10 ECTS. After two years you will have acquired 60 ECTS in Social Pedagogy.

The course is supported by Lånekassen for students from the European Union.

As a prerequisite, you must be offered a position as co-worker at Vidaråsen Camphill Village to apply for the course.

Information

By enrolling, you formally become a student at RSUC. The campus is situated in Oslo. Students must posess a high school diploma in order to apply for enrollment. Each term consists of two written assignments, as well as a practical task.
